Kim Jong-Un says that North Korea will suspend all missile tests and shut down a nuclear test site. According to North Korea’s state news agency, “From 21 April, North Korea will stop nuclear tests and launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles,” There was a meeting of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea on Friday and the decision was announced after the meeting.

North Korea’s leader said that there will be no more missile tests as country’s nuclear capabilities had been “verified.” The time of the announcement is very important here as Kim Jong-Un is going to meet Moon Jae-in next week. It will be the first meeting of its kind in last ten years. Kim Jong-Un is also expected to meet the US President Donald Trump by June which will also be the first meeting of its kind. The world leaders have welcomed the decision of Pyongyang. The US President Donald Trump welcomed the decision and tweeted:

“North Korea has agreed to suspend all Nuclear Tests and close up a major test site. This is very good news for North Korea and the World – big progress! Look forward to our Summit.”

Earlier this week Mr. Trump tweeted about a meeting held between Mike Pompeo, Director CIA, and Kim Jong-Un. The aim of the meeting was to pave the way for the expected meeting with Trump. Mr. Trump tweeted on Wednesday:

“Mike Pompeo met with Kim Jong Un in North Korea last week. Meeting went very smoothly and a good relationship was formed. Details of Summit are being worked out now. Denuclearization will be a great thing for World, but also for North Korea!”

While holding a joint press conference alongside his Japanese counterpart, Trump clearly said that there is no point in meeting the North Korean leader if it’s not going to be meaningful. Here is what he said, “If we don’t think it’s going to be successful, we won’t have it. If I think it’s a meeting that is not going to be fruitful, we’re not going to go. If the meeting when I’m there is not fruitful, I will respectfully leave the meeting.”
